He’s a former high school science teacher, a certified woodland firefighter, and a trained field biologist and ecologist who has worked to improve the foraging habitat of endangered bats at Fort McClellan, Alabama, and once led a team to remove beetle-killed trees on national forests throughout Colorado. Meet Tim Sansom, a brand-new Business Developer at the Huntsville Branch of Michael Hatcher & Associates.
“I’ve been fortunate during my career to work on a number of interesting projects with a wide diversity of team members, including the then-Assistant Director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture,” said Tim, a graduate of Troy University whose career began as a federal contractor for the U.S. Army.
Tim grew up in a rural farming community called Grady in central Alabama. He lived in western Colorado for a short time before relocating to Auburn and then to the Gulf Coast of Alabama, which is where he transitioned from biology and ecology to the landscape industry. Moving to North Alabama for his new role at MHA was an easy decision.
“I really like the culture of the company and the opportunities for growth in my career,” he said about MHA. “My family has wanted to relocate to the Huntsville area for an extended period of time, and the timing for this position has worked out well for us.”
Led by faith – the most important thing in his life – Tim’s family includes his wife of 25 years, Nicole, and two daughters.
“Kate is 22 and is relocating to the Huntsville area with us,” he said. “Belle is 19 and is a sophomore at Auburn University studying Ag Business. We also added a spaniel mix puppy to our household a few months ago and named her Cecelia, but we call her Cece.”
They enjoy traveling, often to natural areas, parks, forests, and waterfalls for sightseeing and hiking. Tim is also an avid hunter, fly fishes when he can, and loves all types of shooting sports.
“I generally just enjoy being outdoors and am up for most adventures,” he said.
Welcome to the Team, Tim!
