Landscape Construction Procurement Manager

About the position

As a Procurement and Inventory Manager, you will be entrusted with procurement and care of the perishable materials and non-materials. Your primary role includes coordination of receivables with Landscape Construction scheduling, competitive procurement of materials, day-to-day care of inventory and holding areas, and supervision of assigned personnel.

This is a fulltime position reporting to the Landscape Construction Operations Manager.

What you’ll be doing

  • Horticultural care of materials and grounds
  • Negotiate plant prices
  • Locate, order, and receive all plants and trees
  • Pick-up and deliver when necessary
  • Be cost – effective and efficient in everything
  • Care for inventory and organize for mobilization
  • Keep up-to-date records on inventory
  • Communicate with designers and LC General Manager about pricing issues and availability
  • Accountable for quality control and plant pricing
  • Maintain daily reporting of job status
  • Accurately record time for location and tasks
  • Job costing for inventory and warranty
  • Provide professional advice, opinions, or assistance to the landscape designers during estimation process
  • Learn and develop an aptitude as a subject matter expert for trees/plants and their needs
  • Communicate daily with LC General Manager of tasks scheduled and upcoming
  • Travel when necessary
  • Lead safety training when assigned and as a leader by example
  • Always exemplify with proper attitude and actions around customers and employees

Performance Metrics for role

  • Safety Record with the commitment to expand training for quality and customer service
  • Profitability of the LC department by projecting budget versus actual numbers and staying within those guidelines. When possible, find materials that stay within our standards but are at lower than estimated price
  • Continuous qualitative measurements aiming at the process of developing the human resource skill set and monitoring progress at all levels. Increase the delivery of quality and efficiencies
What you need to join our team

  • Horticultural background from nursery work or college equivalent
  • 2-3 yrs. experience of locating, sourcing, ordering plants
  • Clean driving record
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire others
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Organized, productive, self-motivated, and accountable with tasks
  • Initiative
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to work together as a team with all departments
